Can I read Quran on my period?

Can I read Quran on my period? – there are two points of view:

    • She is unable to read or recite the Quran.

Based on the hadith, most scholars forbid women from touching the Quran during the period.

“The menstruating woman and the one who is in a state of sexual impurity (janaabah) should not recite anything of the Qur’an.”

    • She can read and recite the Quran.

Many scholars, including Ibn Taymiyyah, ibn Qayyim, Imam Malik, Bukhari, and one interpretation of Imam Ash Shafii, believe this.

They claim that the hadith mentioned above is Daeef (weak). In reality, practically all Hadith experts consider the hadith to be invalid, and hence it cannot be utilized to draw a fiqh judgment.

As a result, women can recite or read the Quran from memory or the Quran mushaf (book).

Can I read Quran on my period? One of the matters on which the scholars, may Allah pity them, disagreed was reading the Quran during menses.

The majority of fuqaha hold that reciting Quran during a woman’s menstruation is haram till she is Tahir (pure) again.

The only exceptions are dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and words that are not meant for tilawah (recitation), such as

    • “Bismillahi’r-Rahmani’r-Rahim”
    • “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,”

Or other Quranic Ayat that are recited as general du’as.

Is there any evidence that women are forbidden to recite the Qur’an during menstruation?

There is evidence to support the prohibition of women reading the Quran during their periods.

They use various pieces of evidence to support their position that menstruation women should not recite the Quran, including the following:

    • Because both conditions need ghusl, menstruation is considered to fall under the same regulations that apply to junub.
Following sexual intercourse, in a condition of impurity.

This is based on a hadith narrated by ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach the Quran and that he never forbade anyone from learning it except those who were in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity).

According to Al-Hafiz ibn Hajar, the reality is that it is the sort of Hasan hadith that may be used as proof.

    • Can I read Quran on my period? According to Ibn ‘Umar’s hadith (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him,” remarked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

“The menstruating woman and the one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) should not recite anything of the Quran.”

    Reported by:

    • Al-Tirmidhi, 131
    • Ibn Majah, 595
    • Al-Daraqutni 1/117
    • Al-Bayhaqi 1/89

This is a da’if hadith since it was reported from the Hijazi’s by Isma’il ibn ‘Ayyash, and his reports are da’if, as those familiar with the study of hadith know. It is a da’if hadith by the universal consensus of the hadith experts, according to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (21/460).

Evidence for allowing women to read the Quran during the period

Some scholars believe that reciting the Quran while menstruating is permissible.

This is Malik’s one recounted from Ahmad’s perspective, which Ibn Taymiyah favored and which al-Shawkani thought was true.

The following points were predicated on this viewpoint by the academics:

Unless there is proof to the contrary, things are authorized and tolerated.

There is no proof that a menstruated woman is not allowed to recite the Quran.

There is no clear, sahih passage to demonstrate that a menstrual lady is banned from reciting Quran, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah declared.

Women used to menstruate during the time of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he did not prevent them from reciting the Quran, remembering Allah (dhikr), or doing du’a.

Allah mandates (Muslims) to recite the Quran.

He commends the person who does so and assures him (or her) of a large prize.

No one is barred from this save those for whom substantial proof (dalil) exists, which, as previously indicated, does not exist in the case of menstruation in women.

Despite the distinctions, a parallel is drawn between a menstrual woman and a woman in a condition of janabah.

Unlike menstruation women, those in a condition of janabah have the option of eliminating the “barrier” by generating ghusl.

A woman’s menstruation typically lasts a few days, but a person in janabah is needed to conduct ghusl when it is time for prayer.

Preventing a menstruation woman from reciting the Quran deprives her of the opportunity to gain reward. It may cause her to forget something about the Quran, or she may need to repeat it for teaching or learning purposes.

Can I read Quran on my period? From the above, it is apparent that those who allow a menstrual woman to recite the Quran have more proof.

If a woman wants to be safe, she can limit her recital to the sections she is concerned about forgetting.

Touching the Quran during a period

Can I read Quran on my period

It’s critical to notice that the topics we’ve been covering are limited to what a menstrual lady can repeat from memory.

A different rule exists when reading from the Mus-haf.

Scholars agree that touching the mushaf while in any condition of impurity is prohibited because Allah states (interpretation of the meaning):

“… which none can touch except the purified.” [al-Waqi’ah 56:79]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told the people of Yemen in a letter to ‘Amr ibn Hazm that:

“No one should touch the Quran except one who is Tahir (pure).”

    Malik, 1/199; al-Nasai, 8/57; Ibn Hibban, 793; al-Bayhaqi, 1/87 all recount the hadith.

Because it is so well known, a group of scholars classified this hadith sahih, according to Al-Hafiz ibn Hajar.

They have demonstrated that it was a letter sent by Allah’s Messenger, according to Al-Shafi’i (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

This letter is famous among Sirah scholars, and it is so well known among the scholars that it does not require an isnad,” Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr remarked.

It’s similar to tawatur in that it was acknowledged and recognized by the people.

It is sahih, according to Shaykh al-Albani.

Can we read Quran on the phone during periods?

Can I read Quran on my period? A lady in her haid (menstruation) or janbat (severe impurity) should not recite anything from the Quran.

On the other hand, a lady in menstruation is permitted to do dhikr and dua.

The objective should be du” rather than a recitation of the Quran.

    And God knows.
