Mrs. Asma was famous for her eloquence. She was the first to demand equality between men and women in the historian Ibn al-Atheer narrates in his book “The Lion of the Forest”: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of God, I am the arrival of women to you, God has sent you to all men and women, so we believe in you, We, the group of women, are confined to the bases of your homes, the fulfillment of your desires, and the bearers of your children, and that you, the men’s group, have been preferred to us in gatherings and groups, visiting the sick, witnessing funerals, and performing Hajj and Umrah, and better than that is jihad in the cause of God, Shall we not share with you this reward and goodness?
The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family turned to her and said: “Understand, O woman, and inform those behind you of the women that a woman’s subservience to her husband, seeking his pleasure, and following his consent, equals all of that.” So the woman left, cheering. May Allah reward her with good on behalf of all Muslim women.
