Mutual agreement, consent of The Wali
No one disagrees that marriage should be based on the consent of both partners. The Wali is the predecessor of the bride, grandfather, lad, brother, uncle, etc. And the marriage is not accomplished without his consent, and the wali does not approve the marriage unless he asks the bride first.
If he asks her and she approves, and he agrees to the marriage, then the first pillar of marriage is completed, which is acceptance.
“Do not force your young girls to transgression, out of your desire for the possessions of the worldly life if they desire to be married. If anyone forces them, then after they have been forced, Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (an-Noor 24:33)

Mahr
The Mahr is an obligatory gift that the groom gives to the bride, agreed upon by the two partners before marriage, and the bride’s family can request it from the groom. Therefore, the question what is the proper way of marriage in Islam? Is a question to preserve rights? yes.
It is one of the pillars of the marriage contract according to the majority and a condition for it according to the Hanafis, and the evidence for it is the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and its evidence from the Qur’an:
“And give the women their dowries as a free gift, but if they are pleased to offer you any of it accept it with happiness and with wholesome pleasure”
The important thing here is to clarify that the Mahr is a condition for the validity of the marriage contract and that it is the woman’s right and it is not approved for her father to take from it except with the permission of his daughter. Likewise, it is not permissible for the husband to take back any of the Mahr except with the permission of his wife.
