Praise be to God, and May blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of God, for it is one of the important matters for every Muslim to read and understand that about Surah al kahf, because of its benefits and great lessons especially reading it on Friday.

What is Surah al kahf ? what is it is story?
First: Surah al kahf was called Surah al kahf in reference to the story of the Companions of the Cave. Kahf=cave.
Surah al kahf is Meccan Surah No. 18 that precedes Surat Maryam and appends Surat Al-Isra in the order of the Surahs of the Holy Qur’an. The surah deals with several topics, revolving around warning against temptation, preaching and warning, and mentioning some scenes from the Day of Resurrection. It also dealt with several stories, such as
- the story of the Companions of the Cave, whose surah was named to mention their story in it.
- And also the story of the companions of the two gardens,
- the story of Adam, peace be upon him, and Iblis,
- the story of Moses and al-Khidr,
- and the story of Dhul-Qarnayn.
Now, we will shed more light on the story of the Companions of the Cave, which is the first story presented in the surah. The story begins in the surah from the Almighty’s saying, verse 9, which is a saying (أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْكَهْفِ وَالرَّقِيمِ كَانُوا مِنْ آيَاتِنَا عَجَبًا) (Or did you think that the Companions of the Cave and the Inscription were among our wonderful signs). And until verse 22 when the Almighty says (فَلا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلا مِرَاءً ظَاهِرًا إِلا مِرَاءً ظَاهِرًا وَلا تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِمْ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا أحدا) ((and do not ask about them or do not argue anyone about them except with a clear argument).

In an unknown time and place – where the people of this village and its king worshiped idols other than God
The Almighty and these young believers were fed up with the village and its people, so they took refuge in a cave for fear of the king’s tyranny over them. And God filled their hearts with light, faith, and wisdom, and it was a place of worship for them.
And here the great miracle happened, as these boys and their dog remained asleep in this cave for a period of up to Three hundred and ninety years. God turns them right and left for this long period in order to the sun purifies them and protect them due to the long time that they spent in the cave with their dog until God authorized them to get out of the cave. When they woke up, they asked each other how long have you stayed in this cave? Some of them said
We stayed a day or part of a day. After that, they sent someone to buy them food, and there the village and its people and the unjust ruler who was threatening them with death if they did not repent from their religion and the whole village became
On monotheism, then the people of the village looked at the boy, marveling at his appearance and the money in his possession. At this time, the people of the cave understood that many years had passed for them and they did not stay long after their appearance, but they died. Then they differed over how they were buried and in their number. The Holy Qur’an told the story in a wonderful and beautiful way.

The benefits of reading surah al kahf on Friday
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, reported of the Prophet may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he said: “Whoever reads Surah al kahf on Friday, it will shine for him from light between the two Fridays. “
And also, The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: ” Anyone recites Surah Al-Kahf “ As it was revealed, will have a light on the Day of Resurrection from his place to Mecca, and anyone recites ten verses from the end of it, then the Antichrist appears, it will not harm him “.
And it is also narrated from him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he said ” Anyone reads Surah al kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him from under his feet to the clouds of the sky, illuminating with it on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven for what is between the two Fridays. “
And what Imam Muslim included in his Sahih with a long hadith related to the Antichrist: ” If you who live up to the time of Antichrist should recite over him the opening verses of Surah Al- Kahf,(The first verses of Surah al kahf) it will protect you from him. “
Based on this, the benefits of Surah al kahf are summarized as follows:
- Who recited the entire surah, which will make you light from your place to the sky or to Mecca?
- The opening verses of Surah al kahf protect you from the trial of the Antichrist.
- The end of Surah al kahf will also protect you from the trial of the Antichrist.
Therefore, the Muslim must be very keen on reciting Surah al kahf and memorize it.
But, here I would like to say, the benefits of Reciting Surah Al Kahf, there is a well-known matter among Muslims, which is reciting Surah al kahf on Friday. You should know that there is a slight difference between the scholars of Muslims as to whether the benefits of reciting Surah al kahf are only Friday, or this benefit applies to all days of the week?
In the fact, the summary of this dispute, and without going into the details of this dispute between them, that, they said the merit of reciting Surah al kahf is for all the days of the week and not only on Friday.
Dose the listening to Surah al kahf substitute for reciting it?
Who is illiterate and does not read, and listens to it, seeking the reward mentioned in its benefits, will get it, God willing.
As for the one who reads well, he should read it, and not be satisfied with listening to it. Because the reward is for reading, not for listening.
Does reciting Surat Al Kahf have a specific time?
No, as we mentioned before there is no restriction on any hour or day
